Dr Ravinder Singh Rao is expertise in field of structural heart disease which includes transcatheter valve implantation (TAVI/TAVR) and catheter based treatment of non coronary cardiovascular defects, clinical research in the field of structural heart disease, complex heart disease, complex coronary interventions and endovascular interventions.
TAVI is aortic valve replacement without open heart surgery. It is now done in India with Dr Ravinder Singh Rao having returned to India after mastering the technique of TAVI and interventional cardiology from Washington University School of Medicine in St Louis, USA and from Mount Sinai Hospital New York.
TAVI or Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation is a procedure which enables the implantation of an aortic valve with the use of a narrow tube called catheter. The aortic valve is replaced with a biological valve without an open-heart surgery.
